DESCRIPTION: The Andean Route offers a motivational environmental-touristic experience in the Cusco area, located in the Peruvian Andes. It is our objective to expose our visitors to the cultural riches of Cusco, Chinchero and Maras, while we support the promotion of the local economy and the preservation of the cultural patrimony which exist since Inca times. Sumaq Andean represents a portal for cultural interchange and provides a distinct vision of the world as well as a completely different way of life. The communities we visit open their hearts to us and tell us their stories through their handicrafts, gastronomy and customs which allow us to better understand each archeological site. The Andean Route is a touristic circle of one day. This spectacular experience allows you to visit archeological sites, natural environments and also to interact with local people and their ancestral knowledge. We invite you to become a part of history through your feelings, senses, smell, TASTE, touch, vision and hearing. Itinerary
ITINERARY
After leaving Cusco in the morning, we first visit the interactive handicrafts operations in Chinchero (an artistic textile production, coloring, iconography, with the weavings telling the history of these communities. We then continue on to the archeological centers of Cheqoq and Moray, places where agricultural experimentation took place in Inca times, this in Maras and in the colonial temple. We continue with a visit to the Salineras, salt mines which were worked and administered by the local community.
After having listened to the explanations of professional guides, we have the Sumaq Andean lunch, offered to us by the Association of the Sumak Huaycuy Llankaska Weaving Women. They preserve the technology of preparing typical dishes which they inherited from their ancestors, using natural products of the area provided by local farmers. While you enjoy this delicious food, you will learn about the importance of Andean products which are planted and harvested in harmony with mother earth.
We return to Cusco in the afternoon.
